HS HARRIET SIOBHAN COSTUMES
About Myself
I've always loved the making of costumes. My great grandmother used to make costumes for Theatres in Birmingham and for TV, I decided to start learning how to make costumes whilst studying for my GCSE, I enrolled at Warwickshire college, Henley in Arden and Gained a BTEC Lvl 2 in costume design, I then went on to do my LVL 3 and in both Lvl 2 and LVL 3 I gained Distinction *.
During my time at Warwickshire college, I came Running up at the Clothes show live 2014 Handbag designer of the year.
I was lucky enough to successfully get selected in the top 10 to join the RSC in a 2-week work Placement, working in women wear and Armoury. This was a great experience and I learnt so much, it gave me an insight on how much detail goes into creating costumes for theatre productions.
I have recently graduated from Birmingham City University with a BAHons in Fashion Design with Design for Performance. During my time studying I did a 4-week work Placement with Camden Costumes in London, this was an amazing experience, I learnt so much whilst here which helped me gain confidence in myself.
Below is a video of the costumes I made for my FMP. I have previously made dance costumes for children which were a basic style, but I have never made for pole and aerial hoop. During my FMP I gained a lot of confidence in the use of stretch materials, I used a variety of materials and created 3 bespoke costumes for a live performance.
